If I could I would rate this book with more than 5 stars. It is jammed packed with everything you could possibly want to know or learn abut the Canon 80d. The author covers each function on the camera in a variety of ways in a very clear cut, simple manner. Since I purchased the digital version, I can jump to different web sites, provided for greater clarification or additional information. The price for the digital version is amazing!! I will definitely go to this author, for any instructional manual in the future!!
When I got my Canon70D two years ago, I shopped carefully for a setup guide and settled on Doug Klostermann's *Canon 70D Experience* - so when I upgraded to the 80D this weekend, I immediately bought his *Canon 80D Experience.* His guides provide the rationales for why someone would want to use each of the various settings, which is what's missing from the Canon manuals. He is also very responsive to inquiries through his web site, which is linked to out of the book.Highly recommended!
Just what I needed to bridge my education from a Rebel T3i to 80D. It's given me confidence to utilize the Creative zones with a better understanding of "how to" for certain shots. The settings and 9 ways to skin a cat is overwhelming. But, Doug is like a little pat on the back, encouraging you with your new adventures in the world behind Canon's 80D.
This is THE reference to guide you thorough the wilderness of the Canon manual to understand not only what the camera will do but HOW TO USE THE FEATURES of the camera to create the photographs you imagine. Descriptions and instructions are clear, concise and focused to what and how YOU can use the camera as a tool. References to additional resources are excellent, adding to the information and instruction in this GUIDE.
It has been 30 years since I went to photography school and owned a DSLR. It amazing how many features cameras have these days. I really like how you recommended Bryan Peterson book on Exposure because I had just bought and read it first to refresh my memory. Your book on the 80D is phenomenal and very easy to understand and follow. I had no problem being very efficient with my camera the first time out.
Despite emphasizing ease of use, the 80D is certainly a complex machine. It's not as bad as learning Photoshop, but there is a lot going on under the hood that I need to know to use the camera effectively. This book does a much better job of explaining which control does what and when you'd want to use them.
A very useful reference for using the Canon 80D effectively as well as a general primer on photography with an enthusiast DSLR. Put in the time using this e-book and practice using the camera until the displays, dials and buttons become routine.
Informative, easy going writing style. Go through the Canon owner's manual to get familiar with the basic functions, then read this book to get a better idea of when to use them, and what default values would work best for you. Spend time with this book and your camera to get the most from both. Highly recommended.
